Vision for Whitby : is here

Our consultation for residents to have their say on the future of Whitby parish has arrived. It has already been featured in several news media articles.

First up was the Yorkshire Post on 15th April (page 6) with the following

This was followed by Greatest Hits Radio / Bauermedia, who provided this article.

Then there was This Is The Coast Radio who attended our April WCN meeting to see for themselves how the consultation would operate, and provided this detailed article.

The North Yorks Enquirer also kindly published this write up.

We thank all media organisations for their publicity.

In terms of social media, we have been advertising the consultation on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Below are some of the graphics used.

Finally we have our overview video, covering the consultation process.

  1. From a resident of Sleights for over 18 years and love living in the Whitby area for more than many years I care to admit – just a few thoughts! We were very disappointed when the Cliff Lift ceased to operate and have heard many visitors comments about their surprise at it no longer operating. Can we see it working again? Whilst i am a member of Whitby Whalers U3A I am saddened that there are not a great number of “Old Timers” organisations in this area – how can we improve this or am I missing something? How about a stronger, for lack of a better word, parking permits for local residents. I could go on much more but just a few thoughts!!!

    1. Hi Neil,
Can you add these points to the map? Just that the more people who contribute comments / ideas the more validity it gets, and the more we can hold North Yorks to account. Add as many places on the map as you want, and tell your family / friends in the district.

Whitby was promised a “parking review” in 2018 and its still not happened; parking on green space, parking permits (and often used/abused by tourists in holiday lets), larger park and ride, and so on.

      Thanks
