The North Yorkshire Local Plan is intended to replace Local Plans for the 7 former boroughs, and is expected to be in place by 2029. Once adopted it will guide development through to 2040. The first stage of the consultations for this are entitled “Issues and Options” and are at a very high level.
We (WCN) would like to get input from local people on what they think of some of these high level questions so that we can submit a community response. We presented this at the WCN Public Meeting on 23rd June 2025, but due to time limitations and the sheer amount of material it was impossible to cover all questions. The presentation is to be found HERE.
The consultation material can be found HERE, with the consultants assessment document HERE (warning : 560+ pages).
There are 11 “objectives” each with their own slides and questions, together with a general prioritisation question at the end. We would very much appreciate people’s input, before 8th July so that we can send in our response before the consultation end date of 15th July. If you only have comments on one or two parts, that is perfectly fine. Please either send it to our email (whitbycommunitynetwork@gmail.com), or use the Contact Form.
One other item of interest to the Local Plan is the “Call For Sites” which is open, and will be open for the foreseeable future. This is to be found HERE. The sites shown are not “accepted” on to the Local Plan, and they will be open to public comments later in the process.
